It's hard to believe that our first tribute to my great aunts was 10 years ago in 2006. Rhonda and I left from New York City on July 4th and rolled into San Francisco on July 20th, 3,772.2 miles later.
We rode to promote the message and character of the sisters, and to raise funds for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund who were building a rehabilitation hospital in San Antonio, Texas at Brooke Army Medical Center. The hospital, built entirely with private funds, was completed in one year! That's amazing under any circumstances, but the organizes and builders knew that it was absolutely necessary for the support of our wounded returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
I learned to ride 3 years in advance so that I would be competent on the bike, especially with my best friend as my passenger. We rode a relatively new 2004 HD so that mechanical problems would not be a concern.
The following video will take you through our 90th anniversary ride. We hope you will enjoy it.
